THE BEST ROOF TEAROFF METHOD? AVOIDANCE
The best way to ensure that your roof is torn off and the new one is installed quickly is completely avoiding roof tear off altogether. Don’t ever tear your existing roof off, and you don’t have to worry about exposing your building, damaging something during tearoff, or project delays that will leave your building in jeopardy. How can you avoid tearing your roof off? There are a couple roofing systems that can be installed directly to existing roof surface, avoiding roof tear off completely while still getting a new roof system on your building.
Spray Foam Roofing
A spray foam roof can be installed directly over top of your existing roof surface. In this instance, there is no tearoff required and your building remains protected from the elements during the entire process. Ironically, while a quick roof installation is no longer necessary with foam since it keeps your building covered for the entire process, spray foam offers a quicker installation than most other roofing systems out there. It can be much more quickly installed than most other systems, even though it doesn’t need to be since your building is protected the whole time. However, as with any project, if you can get it done sooner, you would like to do so.
Another great option for a quick roof installation is a restoration coating. These coatings go directly on top of your existing roof, just like with spray foam, and your building remains protected for the entire process. Restoration coatings are designed to adhere to a number of different roofing materials, which means your roof is most likely a candidate for a restoration coating for avoiding roof tear off.
One thing to note about restoration coatings: they don’t add any strength to your roof. Whereas foam is a great roofing system that resists wind uplift, adds strength to your building and roof, and can be a standalone roofing system, restoration coatings are designed to adopt whatever properties the roof beneath them already has in terms of strength. So, if you have a structurally weak roof, a restoration coating is not for you.
